How to view the result in eAccessNY

Step 1: Use the correct account

Sign in with the eAccessNY user ID used to schedule the salesperson exam. The user ID is the email address attached to the account.

Do not create another account if you have forgotten the password, user ID or secret answer. Use the recovery function or contact the Department. A second account can separate you from the existing exam record instead of solving access.

Step 2: Choose “View Exam Results”

From the main menu, select the result function. Avoid confusing it with:

• “View Scheduled Exam Details,” which shows an appointment
• “Application Status Display,” which concerns a submitted license application
• “List of Licenses,” which concerns license records

An exam result and a license-application decision are different events.

Step 3: Read the displayed status

The Department's FAQ identifies three result states:

• Waiting for Score: the result has not yet been processed
• Pass: the state-exam requirement was passed
• Fail: the state-exam requirement was not passed on that attempt

Do not convert any of these labels into a numerical score. New York does not provide one for the salesperson examination.

What “Waiting for Score” means

The official FAQ says “Waiting for Score” means the result has not been processed. It does not mean pass, fail, a problem with your answers or a missing license application.

The Department's salesperson page says results are posted as soon as possible after they are received by the Exam Unit and scored. That process language matters. The public page does not promise:

• a same-day result
• a result within a fixed number of hours
• a result on the next business day
• one identical turnaround for every site and date

Allow the Department's process to finish. If the status persists beyond what appears reasonable for your appointment, use the current Licensing Services contact process and provide the identifying information it requests.

What not to do while waiting

• Do not create a second eAccessNY account.
• Do not call expecting staff to give the result by phone.
• Do not submit a license application based on an assumed pass.
• Do not schedule a retake based on anxiety alone while the result is unprocessed.
• Avoid treating another candidate's posting time as your deadline.

Keep the Summary of Your Submission and candidate number available if you need to ask about the record.

What “Pass” means

“Pass” means you satisfied the New York State salesperson written-examination requirement for that result period.

The passed result is valid for two years under current Department guidance. Record the date and continue the remaining licensing steps with enough time for application, broker authorization and Department review.

Passing does not mean the license is active

You still need:

• the applicable approved qualifying education
• a New York licensed sponsoring real estate broker
• the correct salesperson application
• the current application fee
• principal-broker authorization for the standard online application
• Department of State review and approval

Do not advertise or perform activity requiring a salesperson license merely because eAccessNY displays “Pass.” The examination result and active license status are separate.

The two-year result window

The Department says a passed result is valid for two years. Treat that as a deadline, not a reason to wait until the final weeks.

Time may be needed to:

• choose a sponsoring brokerage
• correct account or identity details
• assemble documents for an unusual application
• obtain broker authorization
• respond to a Department request

The result's validity does not promise that an incomplete application filed at the last moment will be approved before it expires.

What “Fail” means

“Fail” means that attempt did not satisfy the written-examination requirement. The Department says you may schedule another examination through eAccessNY.

The current salesperson page does not publish:

• a numerical score
• a section-level score report
• a universal waiting period before another attempt
• a maximum number of attempts

Use the live portal and current Department instructions when scheduling again. Another appointment carries the current written-exam fee.

How to plan a useful retake without a score breakdown

Because New York provides no numerical or subject report, use evidence you control:

• recent mixed-practice accuracy by curriculum subject
• rules you could not explain without answer choices
• high-confidence mistakes
• calculations that repeatedly used the wrong base or units
• forms, roles or agencies you confused
• subjects that felt unfamiliar during the exam, recorded only at a broad level

Do not reconstruct live question wording. Review the curriculum topic without copying or sharing protected examination material.

A retake should follow a specific correction plan. “Study more” is not a plan. “Relearn agency disclosure timing, then complete two mixed sets without high-confidence misses” is measurable.

Why New York does not show a numerical score

The Department's published policy is simply that results are reported as passed or failed and candidates do not receive a numerical score.

Do not fill that gap with an unofficial percentage, alleged cutoff or calculation based on a rumored question count. The current salesperson page does not publish an official question count or numerical passing score.

The absence of a number also means:

• a pass should not be described as a particular percentage
• a fail should not be described as missing by a known number of questions
• two candidates cannot compare official numerical performance
• an exam-prep score is a study metric, not a converted New York result

Exam result versus application status versus license status

Check the record that answers the question you actually have. A passed exam can coexist with no application. A pending application can coexist with a passed exam. Neither should be called an active license until the Department's licensing record supports that conclusion.

If the result is missing or appears under the wrong account

Confirm the account first

Use the same email account used to schedule. Check the Summary of Your Submission for the appointment and candidate details.

Use the exact result menu

Open “View Exam Results,” not the appointment or license function.

Do not create a replacement account

The Department's FAQ tells existing users to recover access or contact customer service. Duplicate account creation is not the published fix.

Contact the Department with useful information

Use its current contact route and be ready with:

• legal name
• account email or user ID
• candidate number
• exam type
• exam date
• exam site
• the status displayed

Do not email sensitive identity documents unless the Department specifically instructs you to use an authorized method.

A result-day decision guide

If the screen says Waiting for Score

Wait for processing. Keep the record and check again later. Escalate through the current Department route only if the status remains unresolved.

If the screen says Pass

Record the result date, compare sponsoring brokers, and complete the correct application path. Confirm broker authorization and wait for Department approval.

If the screen says Fail

Review your practice evidence, rebuild weak subjects and schedule another exam through eAccessNY when the next attempt has a defined preparation plan.

If no exam appears

Confirm the account and menu. Use the appointment summary to contact the Department. Do not create another profile.
